I'm doing an RNG challenge and had to solo LNM with Erk and Kent. These are their stats and weapons levels at the very end of LNM.

Erk - 6/10

Nice defense but I like to see more Magic, Spd, and Res by level 12. Erk will rarely be fighting melee enemies.

Kent - 7.5/10

Excellent Str and Res but it looks like his Spd and Skill suffered...a lot...

I would disagree with the comments about the Erk.
Health is average for that level, Magic is above average. Skill is at par as is speed. Luck is one below, it is also one of the least important stats. And his defence is above and his res is at par. I'd say you have a very good Erk.

I would also disagree with your comment about Erk rarely fighting melee enemies; for the entirety of Lyn mode there are approximately. 10 mages. Now if you're playing an LHM/HHM run through, in your party there will most likely be both cavaliers, Lyn, and Erk. Now there are 2.5 mages to kill per character in theory, for the entire first 10 chapters of the game. Furthermore, seeing as the mages stats are sub-par because it's lolLynHardMode, the cavaliers will be able to make full use of their 7 movement to charge in without worry of being owned by a mage. Meaning they'll get more kills; leaving Erk with probably one, maybe (I stress maybe) mage kills for the first half of the game.

More often than not, Erk will be a physical sniper; taking advantage of his 1-2 attack range by focusing on melee enemies with minimal resistance to magic. He will never attack close range (archers exempt) if he can avoid it. This brings me to my main point for this; a good player won't let his Erk face much, if any, damage if it can be avoided. Erk by very nature is not a physically talented character and as such should avoid taking damage and leave that to the cavs and Oswin.

Exactly, Erk is a physical sniper. I guess you assumed that I meant never fighting melee enemies, where I meant fighting them with a chance to get hit. Plus you just said that Erk is average except for Magic and Defense. Erk is +1 Magic, +2 Defense, -1 Luck. Let's see, +2 total for that level.

This is the rating system that somebody uses on GameFAQs, which I believe is very accurate:
(Points above average - points below average) / 40 + .5 = rating

So that would make Erk be a 5.5/10 if based strictly on average stats, which means I overrated Erk a little bit.

Alright, if Lowen had Kent's stats, he would be a 10/10 for sure. However, Kent is already overpowered, as well as Sain, when it comes to the Cavs. Kent should be rated a 7.25/10 based on the system I found on GameFAQs.

I'll admit that my comments should have been more specific but, my ratings without going by the ones I found on GameFAQs were accurate for the most part.

I'll agree with being a 6ish for 'Erks' as a whole. However you can't say that Kent's skill and speed suffered if they are 3-4 points above the average. Furthermore I've never seen that formula on GFaqs and I've been there for three years- and I disagree with it.

Alright, so I made my post quickly after Strider posted it and since Sain is the strong Cav, Kent is supposed to be the extremely fast Cav. Would that mean that Kent is supposed to end up maxing Spd and Skill early like how Sain usually maxes Strength by level 15?

Also, I believe I found the formula on either the Sacred Stones or Sword of Seals board. It's an easy formula to agree with if you don't take the average stats as 100% truth. No character should be a 10/10 unless he is super blessed, like 5+ points above average in 3 or more categories.

And I agree with Strider for average stats because really all "average stats" are is when somebody uses nightmare to find out the growths and then adds them up to the bases, which really proves nothing and is just nice for stat whor*s. That is why I came up with the idea of the "RNG Challenge", so it forces you to use some of the worse characters and any characters that get RNG Screwed.

Nope. You can't use a standard fixed method to verify a random and off the wall system. I think average stats come into play with your personal experience. For some reason, my Sains are 90% of the time far above the Serenes average.
