Finding seats in the shade on a sunny day is not easy at Dodger Stadium. The upper deck overhang is among the smallest in baseball, especially down the first base line. For your best chance of being in the shade, choose seats on the third base side of the field on the loge level or in the last few rows of the upper deck. Avoid sitting in the right field seats, which are among the last to be shaded during afternoon and evening games....More

    • Where are the shaded seats at Dodger Stadium for a day game?

      Asked June 26, 2014

Your best chance of being covered for an afternoon game at Dodger Stadium is to sit in the last three rows (F-H) of a 200 level section or in the highest rows of the upper deck.
Kids under the age of four do not need a game ticket, provided they sit on a parent's lap. Kids entering for free will not receive a promotional give-away item.
Finally, the Dodgers do offer specially priced tickets for kids age 4-14, which must be purchased through the Dodgers box office on the day of the game only. The special pricing is available for 1-3 star games only.

"Home side of stadium just past 3rd base (FL SEC 41 seats 3, 4)" -

    Section Field, Row K, Seats 3, 4

Overall great seats between 3rd base and left field. I attended a day game and it was late September and I was sweating profusely, and before purchasing tickets I considered this as a factor. I thought sun would set sooner on the west end and we would get shade early on, but we didn't get shade until about the mid of the 5th but once we did it was nice. We didn't get many foul balls hit our way like I thought we might have but the crowd was great in the sea of blue! Concessions were located directly up top the aisle and restrooms weren't too far off.

If you arrive early enough you can get great close ups of players warming up maybe even get an autograph or two. I recommend taking your own peanuts and you are allowed to take 1ltr of unopened bottled water into venue! No energy drinks allowed in through the gate not sure if they even sell them inside but I had to pound mine at the gate or toss it (hard to do on a full stomach). I recommend these seats for a night game or late game, but if you do go to a day game a hat or visor and a fan, and some sunscreen will be needed! hope this helps

"Impressive Reserve level, but watch out for sun" -

    Infield Reserve 16, Row D, Seat 14

Considering my seats were on the second highest seating tier at Dodger Stadium, the views were very impressive from where I was sitting. In Row D it was just 4 rows from the front of the section, and in Seat 14 I was 5 seats in off the at the right side of the section. My seat had me pointed directly in between the pitchers mound and home plate, which allowed me to just watch straight ahead without turning my head significantly in either direction. The guard railing at the front of the section is only an issue for viewing the right field corner, but otherwise these seats have a great height to clearly down to the field.
One warning I would issue however is to be prepared for a lot of sun in these seats. I was there during a late afternoon and found myself very jealous of the fans on the third base side who looked pretty comfortable in the shade. But if you're not afraid of some California sun and brought your sunscreen to the ballpark, these seats are a great choice at a lower price range.

"Corner comforts on the Reserve Level" -

Reserve 53, Row HH, Seat 8

These have to be some of the furthest views available at Dodger Stadium. Buried in the left field corner, the seats feel like they are sitting even higher than the top of the left field foul pole. So while they didn't offer much a view, it was a good place to find shade and even had a nice breeze coming through the seats every so often. To the right of my seat was a small one row aisle that lead up to the last row of the section (incredibly odd), which meant I had a ton of empty space to my right for extra legroom. The step on this mini aisle acted like a small table, which is great place to set food and drink while you watch the game.
But for some reason, the speakers in center field seemed to bounce sound perfectly right to this area, making it incredibly loud when making announcements and playing music. I could easily think of worse places to sit in Dodger Stadium, but just don't expect great views from all this way in the corner.

"Cool view down the line, but sunny!" -

    Section 168, Row A, Seat 2

Section 168 is the last section down the right field line on the loge level. Row A is the first row in the section. These seats had a cool view right down the first base line and were perfect for seeing balls hit into right field. You also have the visiting team bullpen right below, which adds a cool factor.

The foul pole is just to your left and not a distraction. And you have no problems seeing over the first row railing. The big issue; however, is the sun. These seats are in the sun all afternoon and at about 6:00 you are completely blinded. For games in June and July the blinding sun is probably bad at 7:00 and even later.

Besides for the sun, I'd avoid these seats if you don't like when it's too loud. One of the center field speakers is right at these seats. In addition, you're close to RF Plaza, which can get pretty loud.

Concessions and restrooms are right at the top of the section, which is about 20 rows up.

    "Toaster oven" -

    Lower Reserve 40, Row E, Seat 9

Building up a sweat while working out is great, but building up a sweat just sitting in a seat watching a baseball game? Not so much. That is pretty much what you can expect from sitting down near the right field foul pole on the reserve level of the stadium. The occasional breeze that came through the section was nice, but it wasn't nearly enough to combat getting toasted by the sun in my seat.
Aside from getting cooked, the views were nothing all too special. I was looking to the left most the time since the seats point at left center field rather than the infield, and while there weren't many obstructions to speak of, it was difficult to have the sun in your eyes and look through the shadows to the game during the late afternoon. Next time, its third base side all the way, where I can enjoy the game while avoiding the sun.

"Free food and good place to get a homerun ball, but you will roast in the sun." -

    Section 306, Row S, Seat 20

In the 300 level sections of the outfield are bleacher seats with back support on them. Also, the tickets include free food, such as hot dogs, peanuts, and nachos, as well as free drinks such as pop and water. The amenities are great, the view is great, and it's your best chance to get a homerun ball. With all of that said, you will absolutely roast in the California sun, because unless you are in the last row of the 300 sections you will not be guaranteed any shade. Once the sun starts setting some sections in left field start getting some shade, but in right field the shade never came until the sun was completely set. If you can handle the heat these are great seats, but if you're like me, do yourself a favor and purchase tickets in the last row of the 300 sections to guarantee you will be in the shade....More

    "Shade, cover and concessions!" -

    Section 145, Row T, Seat 4

Comfort and convenience are what makes these seats really awesome. Gotta go to the bathroom every other inning? Not a problem. Kids demanding another run to the concession stand for more sugar? A breeze. Threat of rain in the forecast? Nothing to worry about.

Row T is the last row in Section 145. With that you get 100% coverage from the overhang. No shade, no rain, no beer spilled on your head. You are also right at the concourse. So if you make frequent trips for drinks, food, breaks or just have bad knees, you can really limit your walking.

The view of the field is also very good. You can see all of it very comfortably. The only negative is that the overhang will get in your way on pop flys. It doesn't block everything, but when the ball is at its peak, you're probably not seeing it.

    Section 168, Row V, Seat 3

You're not sitting here because you think you're getting the best view of the field or you're catching a ball. You're simply too far away. But if you're looking for some cheap loge tickets that are close to everything, look no further.

Row V is the last row in the last section of the Loge. While everyone else around you will be covering their eyes and peeling their sunburn tomorrow, you can sit back in your covered seats and enjoy being in the shade and 20 degrees cooler than everyone else. Then you can walk up one step and grab a beer. Three innings later you can walk up one step and relieve yourself of that beer.

Seriously, bathrooms and restrooms are so close that they make you forget how far you are from home plate.

"Don't sit above the entry tunnel" -

Reserve 42, Row EE, Seat 14

I was curious as to what it might be like to sit just above the entry tunnel to a section. Nobody sitting directly in-front of me so the view must be great, right? Well the that couldn't be more wrong. Mounted above the entry tunnel is an additional guard railing that seemed to be just inches away from my face, and blocked me out from watching anything at the right field corner.
In addition to the obnoxious position of the railing, the top of the tunnel also takes away a good six inches of legroom, making it even more uncomfortable to watch a game here. Throw in a good amount of sun exposure, poor position relative to the aisle, and this could be one of the more painful places to watch a game at Dodger Stadium.

"Closer to field than you think, but bring the sunscreen." -

    Section 146, Row C, Seat 2

I was really surprised at how close to the field these seats were! The loge level really hangs over the lower box seats, which makes you feel like you're sitting just above the field. This made for a truly awesome experience, and some of the best 2nd-level views I've ever had in a baseball stadium.

Views of the field are really great, and the scoreboard is pretty much head-on.

The only thing I didn't care for was the sun. It's really in your face down the right field line for a long time. Eventually it sets below the third base side of the field. But you're battling it for a while. Other than that making these seats somewhat uncomfortable for a while, I thought they were great seats.

"5 star view of field, 10 star view of the sun" -

    Section 138, Row K, Seat 5

Just past the infield dirt, these seats are awesome for seeing the entire infield - especially the right side. Fantastic views of everything at an ideal height. Row K is even just barely under cover from above. So if it rains, your head will be dry (though your knees might get a bit damp).

Despite the cover, these seats were still directly in the sun. It was pretty blinding to begin the game, though it did get better once the sun continued to set.

I would avoid these seats for a 6:00 start or a 7:00 start in June and July. The sun is just too much of a factory. For other game times, these seats are a great way to watch the game.

"Bring six pairs of sunglasses" -

    Lower Reserve 60, Row A, Seat 15

And I don't even know if six pairs is enough. You are so blinded by the sun in the late afternoon that you're better off watching the game at home on a non-HDTV. Row A didn't make matters much better. The first row has less legroom and the railing is right in your face. Furthermore, the foul pole was a distraction in these seats.

As the game gets going, you realize that the sun finally sets over the stadium and no one else sits around here, so you can move up a few rows. But for a sold-out game, you're gonna want to buy tickets in a higher row. Row A should be avoided.

One cool factor is the visitor bullpen below you.

"Excellent views of the infield!" -

    Section 16, Row M, Seat 2

If you're sitting in these seats, put an extra layer of sunscreen on the right side of your body. It gets hot and bright!

The seats are really close to homeplate and views of the batter and pitcher might not get any better. But the seats are unnecessarily angled towards homeplate. This means turning your head nearly around to see the outfield. It's really awkward and makes no sense. You were going to get a great view of homeplate without the angle.

Besides for the angle weirdness, the height of Row M is just brilliant. You're above the field just enough and you have less than 10 rows to get to the concourse.

"Close to the field, view just OK" -

    Section 34, Row D, Seat 4

Row D in Section 34 is more like row 10 because there are seats in front of row A. But they feel really, really close to the field.

Tons of foul balls coming in this direction. And only 8 seats in a row, so you won't have to fight too many people to catch one.

But the view is just OK. The angle to the field is very poor, so you're looking to your left to see homeplate. Views of the scoreboard and outfield are very good though.

I still like the loge level better. Being close to the field is great for impressing someone, but seeing the whole field is easier from higher rows.

Halfway between third base and home plate on the Dodgers side of the field. You feel really close to the field, even though you're elevated. Views of the infield are awesome, especially the batter-pitcher exchange and the right side of the infield.

You can see the whole field clearly, but you just have to turn your head to see all of LF. That was the only small knock on these seats. Otherwise, you're about 10 rows down from the concourse, the Dodgers dugout is right in front of you and shade was abundant during the late afternoon and evening.

    Section 44, Row A

Tons of legroom being in the first row. But you're almost too close to the field. The angle of these seats towards the infield is embarrassing and could lead to a nice strain on the neck since you have to look left all game. I just feel bad for the people in the closer rows who paid a lot more and have the same issues.

The extra legroom does make it easier to turn your body and see the field, but I don't know if it's worth it. Between the angle, the sun and all the stairs back up to the concourse, I am not a fan of these seats.

    Section 10, Row B, Seat 5

Awesome seats with a crazy cool view down the third base line. Row B is about the actual 10th row, but you are really low to the field which gives you the impression of being a lot closer. The really, really expensive seats are right in front of you. And while you can't get down there, you get the same view as them and you can star-watch at times.

It does get really hot in these seats in the afternoon. For a nite game, they're shaded by first pitch. But there's no relief before 6:00 or so.

    Section 38, Row X, Seat 2

If you look at the associated photos, you'll see a lot of people shading their eyes. Section 38 gets a lot of sun! But the overhang above Row X will shade you and cover you from rain.

On the flip-side, the overhang will also block your view of a lot of pop-ups. You don't really notice it when you sit down. But as soon as a ball is hit in the air, it's very apparent. You can still get good shade in Row T, so my advice is to sit down a couple rows where the overhang is less of an issue.

    Section 40, Row B

Thirty feet from the field at Dodger Stadium - these seats ought to be amazing, right? Not so much. Unlike newer parks which angle their outfield seats to the infield, these seats stare at the outfield grass. You pretty much have to turn your head a full 90 degrees to see home plate. For a three hour game that becomes a bit stressful.

Higher rows in the same section are better, so are seats closer to the infield and on the loge level.
