Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet still has some loose ends to tie up and you get a chance to do that in The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero Epilogue: Mochi Mayhem. The main highlights include more information about the Kitakami myths, hanging out with your Paldea friends in Kitakami, and a chance to capture the mischievous Mythical Pokemon Pecharunt. This guide is to help you through this end-endgame, with information on how to start the epilogue, a walkthrough for Mochi Mayhem, and how to find and capture Pecharunt Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.

How to Start The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero Epilogue

First of all, you have to complete the base game’s Treasure Hunt main story, The Teal Mask DLC main story, and The Indigo Disk DLC’s main story. In addition to this, you’ll also reportedly need to compete in the Academy Ace Tournament at least once, which you can do following the base game’s main story. There may also be another requirement of speaking to Penny and triggering the events of getting Team Star back in school, but we haven’t been able to confirm that at this time.

Once you’ve done this, you can connect your game to the internet. This can be done by going into the Poke Portal option and hitting the L button. From here, you need to navigate to Mystery Gift and pick Mystery Gift via Internet and choose the Mythical Pecha Berry. You’ll receive the key event item, which triggers the event.

If you’ve done everything above, you can head to Peachy’s stand over in Kitakami (right next to the Community Center) and interact with the stand. If you’ve done everything right, your character will take special notice of the ornament that’s usually at the stand, you’ll receive a phone call from Arven, and the epilogue will begin.

Note that you can collect the Mythical Pecha Berry whether you’ve beaten the game or have the DLC or not, but the event won’t happen until you purchase and complete the DLC stories in addition to the other events.

Mochi Mayhem Walkthrough

Following Arven’s phone call, make your way back to your home in Paldea. Once you get there Arven will greet you, but so will Penny and Nemona. The gang’s all here! Head inside and watch as you and your friends have a great get-together.

In the midst of it, your mom hands you a letter from Kieran, inviting you and any number of friends you wish to come visit he and Carmine as they’re on break and in Kitakami. Your Paldea pals, predictably, invite themselves. Make any preparations you need before you set off, then meet all your friends at the south entrance of Mesagoza.

Once you make your way to Kitakami and make sure all your friends are safe and welcome, head on back towards Kieran and Carmine’s place just behind the Community Center. Once there, Kieran will get to meet your Paldea crew, including Nemona who is, unsurprisingly ITCHING to battle another region’s Champion. Head back over to the Community Center and speak to Kieran to find out the result of their battle.

Once you do this, Carmine makes her presence known, but something clearly is off with her, as her eyes glow purple. An even bigger signifier that something is wrong occurs when she starts doing a…chicken dance? And muttering about mochi? Homegirl is not here right now and Kieran is clearly concerned and perplexed. Even so, you need to go to the Community Center so everyone can get a good sleep.

Once here, your friends want to use the TV for something, but first you have to find the remote. Everyone gets a section of the main Community Center Room. Except Nemona sort of who appears to be blocking the exit and uncharacteristically saying nothing. You can find the remote to the far right in the decorative plant over here.

Cool, you’ve got the remote, but now where’d Nemona go? You and Kieran head outside to go look, where Kieran spots some orchard workers. Approach them to ask if you’ve seen where Nimona has run off. Speak to them and you’ll soon discover that they too have purple eyes and a craving for mochi. More annoyingly, they attack!

Make sure you have some good Steel-, Ground-, and/or Psychic-type Pokemon on hand for this Epilogue because there are nasty Poison-types all over the place, starting here. You won’t be going into these Double Battles alone, as Kieran is here alongside you. Salazzle doesn’t like Rock-, Ground-, Psychic-, or Water-type attacks and Ariados is toast when it meets Fire-, Psychic-, or Flying-type moves. Victreebel has the exact weaknesses Ariados has in addition to Ice-type moves. Noctowl also isn’t friends with Ice-type attacks and also takes super effective damage from Rock- and Electric-type strikes as well.

Side note, but watch out for status moves in this battle. Salazzle can hit Toxic on even Steel-types, while Victreebel’s spore moves (like Stun Spore) can’t miss. Ariados will put down Sticky Web, making any Pokemon you switch into lose speed upon entering as well.

Once you’re done with those weirdos, step over to the left and heal yourself before continuing towards Kitakami Hall, where Nemona seems to be headed. When you get there, you’re greeted by Kieran and Carmine’s grandparents. Grandpa seems okay, but Grandma has purple eyes and purple mochi that she insists Grandpa try. He does and becomes hypnotized as well, proving that the mochi is the conduit of the madness. Unfortunately, it also means you now have to duel your friends’ grandparents!

Arbok and Weezing can both go down to a well-placed Psychic-type attack and Arbok to a Ground-type one since Weezing has Levitate. Chandelure is weak to other Ghost-types, as well as Dark-, Water-, Rock-, and more Ground-type moves. Mamoswine is a hefty one, capable of taking down Fire- and Steel-types if you try to hit it with them. It may be safer to try and use a Water-type or a Fire-type move on a non-Fire-type Pokemon to take it down.

Following this, you get a phone call from Arven that alarms you, so rush back to town and to Peachy’s to see what’s up. Penny explains that they did in fact see something floating around and before Kieran can let them know anything about the monster mochi, Pecharunt reveals itself and shoots mochi at everyone. Arven and Penny wind up eating the cursed confections and now you’ll have to take them down next. They have no Poison-types, though, so you can take a moment to swap your party out if you need to.

Umbreon and Mabostiff don’t like Fairy-, Fighting-, or Bug-type attacks, though Umbreon can tank a hit or two. Greedent also doesn’t like Fighting-types, and neither does Cloyster. You can hit the Bivalve Pokemon with a shot of Electric-type shocks as well. Sylveon will go down to Steel- or your own Poison-type attacks, while Leafeon is weak to bevy of things: Poison-, Fire-, Bug-, Ice-, and Flying-types.

Once you get those two out of the way, Pecharunt tries to get away and Kieran gives chase. Stop again to heal up any Pokemon you need to and then head to Loyalty Plaza, where you’ll get the final showdown with the little wicked fruit. Upon getting here, you’ll get treated to the full extent of a G-Rated zombie apocalypse and the only way out is through a possessed Nemona.

This is a straight up one-on-one affair like most other Nemona encounters. She’ll start with a swift Lycanroc that will put up Stealth Rock if you let it. Take it down with faster Fighting-, Water-, Ground-, or Steel-type Pokemon or attacks. Kommo-o and Goodra both hate Fairy- and other Dragon-types, Kommo-o especially taking 4x damage from Fairy-type moves.

Both Dusknoir and Goodra can take a few hits, but Dusknoir can be taken out with Dark- and other Ghost-type attacks. Pawmot can’t take too many Ground-, Psychic-, or Fairy-type attacks, but be careful if you have a Ground-type since it does have Ice Punch.

Her final Mon is the one that was weak to the starter you chose, but pay more attention to the secondary typings - it will Terastalize as soon as it gets into play and become its secondary typing. Dark hates Fighting-, Bug, and Fairy-types, while Ghost scurries against Dark- and other Ghost-types. Fighting doesn’t like Flying-, Psychic, or Fairy-types. They also can’t hit Ghosts with Fighting-type attacks.

Fighting and Catching Pecharunt

Once Nemona is weakened and out of the way, Pecharunt has no more tricks up its sleeve and will fight you one-on-one. It goes like every other Titan Pokemon or boss battle, so like Ogrepon and Terapagos. Pecharunt is Poison/Ghost and weak to Psychic-, Ghost-, Dark-, and Ground-type attacks. Careful with Psychics or Ghosts though. Steel-types are also great here since they resist all Poison-type attacks. You’ll want to avoid the poison status as much as you possibly can in this battle because Pecharunt’s special ability confuses you whenever it poisons you.

Bring along Ogrepon to this battle for a terrific easter egg! Also, bring along any of the Loyal Three to get a response from Pecharunt!

Hit it hard and hit it for super effective damage quickly; if you don’t, it’ll try to set up a Nasty Plot sweep on you in addition to having ever-present poison and confusion danger. Once its HP has been reduced to 0 and it gets forced out of its shell, Pecharunt is ripe for the taking and you can catch it with whatever ball you want. It takes up the final spot in the Blueberry Pokedex.

Congrats! You’ve completed the Hidden Treasure of Area Zero Epilogue: Mochi Mayhem! Besides Pecharunt itself, your reward is being able to invite your Paldea buddies to the League Club over at Blueberry Academy.
